Reusable shipping packaging (BOXO)

In collaboration with BOXO, we offer you the option to have your order shipped in Reusable Packaging. Select this option during checkout and pay a deposit, which you’ll get back when you return the packaging at a drop-off point.

What is a reusable shipping package?

A reusable shipping package is packaging used to ship online store orders. If you choose a reusable shipping package, your order will be delivered to your home in it. You don’t throw this packaging away, instead, you return it at a drop-off point. After that, the packages are cleaned and reused by online stores.

How does the deposit work?

When you return the package at one of the drop-off points, you’ll receive a €3.95 deposit refund via a Tikkie refund (“Tikkie Terug”) or through the drop-off point’s checkout/cash register system.

How does returning (drop-off) work?

Visit one of the participating drop-off points and return your reusable shipping package easily. Here’s how it works:

  • Scan the drop-off point QR code
    Visit a drop-off point, scan the QR code, and follow the steps. You’ll receive your deposit back within seconds.
  • Hand in your packaging
    Return your reusable shipping package at the drop-off point, so an online store can use it again.

Where can I return it?

Once you’re happy with your order, return the reusable shipping package at one of the participating drop-off points. Scan the QR code on the packaging or click here to find your nearest drop-off point.

How does it work if I want to return my order?

Follow the webshop’s return instructions and use the reusable shipping package as the return package. You’ll receive the deposit back from the webshop.

How long do I have to return the packaging?

You have 2 months after delivery to return your reusable shipping package at a participating drop-off point. After that, we refund the deposit to the owner of the package.

Why can’t I choose a reusable shipping package?

The option for a reusable shipping package depends on your postal code. If there are enough drop-off points near you, this option will appear. BOXO is gradually opening more drop-off points across the Netherlands, so you’ll soon be able to choose this option too and return reusable shipping packages in your area.

Are reusable shipping packages sustainable?

Yes! Every time a reusable shipping package is used again, one less single-use package needs to be produced and recycled. Reusable shipping packages can have up to 90% lower CO₂ emissions than recycled cardboard.

Recycling paper and cardboard requires a lot of energy and water. Paper fibers get shorter through recycling, which means they can only be reused about 5 to 7 times before new wood fibers must be added. This requires trees to be cut down.
