Our Mission
At Studio Haering, we’re on a mission to transform festival waste into something extraordinary. By upcycling abandoned tents left behind at festival campsites, we create sustainable, circular, and socially responsible bags, crafted right in Rotterdam. We're changing the perspective on waste, it’s as simple as that!

1. Making Festivals Greener
We all love a good festival, but they come with a significant environmental cost. Did you know that in the Netherlands alone, festival campsites produce nearly 100 tons of CO2 emissions annually just from visitor waste? This figure comes from an analysis of seven festivals organized by MOJO, and it only accounts for the waste left behind by visitors at the campsites on their festivals. In fact, 31% of the total waste generated at these festivals comes from campsite visitors. Yeah, you heard that right.
2. Giving Waste a Second Life
At Studio Haering, we believe waste is just untapped potential. Festivals generate an enormous amount of waste, but abandoned tents are not trash to us, they’re the raw material for something new. By upcycling these tents into stylish, high-quality bags, we’re not only reducing waste but also highlighting the value hidden in discarded materials. It’s all part of our commitment to a circular economy and a future where waste is reimagined as a resource.
3. Social Impact and Transparency
Our mission extends beyond environmental sustainability. We’re passionate about making a positive social impact by collaborating with social workplaces and ateliers that provide fair employment opportunities to those facing barriers in the job market. With support from the Stichting ROS, we give skilled workers a chance to help bring our products to life, ensuring that each bag carries not only a story of sustainability but also one of opportunity for all.

How does it work?
We all love a good festival! But did you know that festival campsites are churning out nearly 100 tons of CO2 emissions from visitor waste? Yeah, you heard that right. That's like dumping a mountain of carbon into the atmosphere! We've got to wake up and smell the pollution. It's time to demand zero emissions from festival camping waste by 2030, or we'll be partying our planet into oblivion. We want to introduce you to Studio Haering; A waste design agency that cleans up your tent waste and turns it into high end bags. Let us show you how this works!
Step 1: Post-festival, a dedicated team of volunteers takes action, collecting discarded tents and restoring the grounds to their natural state.
Step 2: In our studio, the tents undergo meticulous sorting, organized by material and color, laying the groundwork for the next phase of their journey.
Step 3: With precision and care, fabric is cut into patterns and packaged, readying it for the next stage of production.
Step 4: At our local atelier, skilled workers, including individuals supported by the ROS foundation, breathe new life into the materials, crafting them into stylish bags that tell a story of resilience and sustainability.
Step 5: The cycle completes as we proudly showcase our upcycled bags at the next festival, where familiar faces return to support our cause and carry a piece of the festival's legacy with them.
Let’s change the industry together!
